The acceptable amount of wine per day for women is up to 150 milliliters (about one glass – Approx. ed), and for men – up to two glasses. This was stated by the chief physician of the Scandinavian Health Center, MD, cardiologist, functional diagnostics doctor Natalya Gavrilova in an interview with Izvestia.

In particular, she gave some advice for those who like to indulge in strong drinks. Among all types of wine – it is red that is the least harmful to the body. This is due to its rich set of other, non-alcoholic properties. For example, polyphenols, which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antiplatelet effects.

However, alcohol is bad for health, so the expert called for drinking non-alcoholic red wine. It lowers blood pressure levels. But alcohol abuse increases the risk of arrhythmia and may result in unexpected death from heart problems.

“Long-term alcohol use increases the risk of many cancers, especially gastrointestinal and liver cancers, and in women, even low levels of alcohol are associated with an increased risk of breast cancer.” Gavrilova said.
