Therapist-gastroenterologist Elena Tyulpina told how Russians can feel after a sharp cold snap that will occur this week. According to her, this will primarily affect people with chronic diseases. She spoke about this in an interview with we.
“This year we had a hot sunny summer in many regions of our country, but now it’s time for summer to recede, and autumn will come into its own. Well, when this transition from summer to autumn occurs smoothly, then we have time to turn on all our adaptive mechanisms, start them correctly, and then the transition from warm summer to cold autumn weather occurs almost imperceptibly. But this year is planned differently. Forecasters predict us the coming days of cooling, which, unfortunately, will affect the well-being of many of us. First of all, of course, these are patients with chronic diseases, she said.
We are talking about diseases of the cardiovascular system, such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, past strokes and heart attacks, and other ailments. This also applies to people with respiratory diseases, pathologies of the musculoskeletal system, with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. A person may have dyspepsia, abdominal cramps, nausea, changes in appetite.the expert explained.
Tyulpina added that for some people during this period, on the contrary, it is easier to perform some kind of physical activity, maybe even the quality of sleep has improved. This is due to an increase in the oxygen content in the air, but there is a danger here. According to the expert, whenever there is a sharp drop in temperature, our body reacts with vascular spasm. She added that when vasospasm occurs, the rigid wall becomes more rigid. During this period of time, almost everyone experiences an increase in blood pressure. For some, it is small – 10-15 millimeters of mercury, for some, these figures rise much higher.
As we previously wrote, the doctor told how old children cannot be taught to read.
