Every year the risk of death due to chickenpox increases. This was told by the immunologist Zoya Skorpileva.

“The older you get, the more difficult it is to tolerate chickenpox. Severe forms begin to become more frequent from the age of 12. But we must understand that at any age there can be severe forms, ” — she said in an interview with URA.RU.

There are much more severe forms, complications and deaths among adults than among children. The infection goes away with high fever and profuse rashes. The expert advised those who do not remember whether they were sick or not to take a blood test and get vaccinated.

Skorpileva noted that at the same time, infected people of any age can get sick with complications in the form of diabetes mellitus. According to her, the most severe are deaths, chickenpox encephalitis.

Diabetes mellitus develops after chickenpox, and this is not only in adults, but also in children. The immunologist pointed out that later radicular pain syndromes may appear, because the rashes go along the nerve trunks in adults and get worse.

As we previously wrote, it is easy to confuse with chickenpox monkeypox.
